Counselling sessions are focused on you and how I can support you.

However, I know it is important for you to see if you connect with me in some way and if you would feel safe in a counselling space with me. So here's a bit more about me.

If you would like to have a free 20 minute conversation to assess whether my services feel right for you (with no obligation to begin counselling sessions) please get in touch. You can contact me via the contact button at the top of the page or in the menu (if accessing via mobile device).

About Me
000089060012

Hello!
I'm Kitty, I'm from Lincolnshire, UK. I studied Psychology at University for 4 years and whilst there, joined the Mental Health and Wellbeing Society, growing my interest and passion in this area.
I gained experience through working in different support roles in a neuro-support service and on NHS mental health wards.
Then, for three years and through the pandemic, I supported people in an NHS Talking Therapies service, using specific interventions for adults presenting with anxiety and depression related problems.

Why I became a Counsellor

After working in more operational roles supporting projects, I missed 1:1 contact with people, listening, helping them feel understood. Working in the roles I have, I recognised that many people have a need to be really listened to, time and space to explore their feelings and understand themselves better.
Counselling can be such a helpful, safe and nurturing environment for change and growth. Everyone has the potential for this, counselling is the supportive space to explore it.

Seeing a Counsellor myself helped me to align my life more to who I am, make better choices for myself, be kinder to myself and explore what I value. I continue to actively take care of myself, grow and work on myself through life's ups and downs.

My Qualifications

  • Counselling Masters Degree (MSc)
  • Low Intensity Psychological Interventions (PGCert)
  • Psychology undergraduate degree (Scottish MA)

I also regularly complete Continued Professional Development (CPD) courses to develop and upkeep my skills and training, in line with the BACP ethical framework.

Values

Curiosity

I carefully listen and ask questions to try to understand you better and to support you to find ways towards your goals or hopes for therapy. I reflect back what I am hearing you say, how I notice you talk about things, your emotions and body language I pick up on, and also what I am not hearing you say.

This can lead to new insights and explorations of what makes you you. Understanding ourselves better can lead to more compassion for ourselves or help us to find ways to make changes that improve our wellbeing.

Empathy

I have always been highly sensitive to others and am naturally empathetic. I try to look out of my client's 'window', as I know I can't fully put myself in your shoes as the saying goes.

Empathy is about trying my best to see your unique perspective, not necessarily fully understanding it, as we can't know exactly what another person has experienced.

Honesty

Building trust is a key part of the therapeutic relationship (between therapist and client)

I try to create a space where you can be yourself, without pressure or judgment.

I work honestly and within my professional boundaries and limitations, offering a genuine and human presence.

Uniqueness

We are all different! I celebrate and welcome difference in my practice and I accept others as fellow human beings. We all understand the world in different ways and have had unique experiences.

In counselling, if you would like to, we can explore tools, activities, models or theories that you may find helpful in understanding yourself, others or as ways of coping. In counselling, we have the opportunity to explore what works for you.
